Big Band Bash

£14,000 was raised at the Big Band Bash on Sunday 29th April.

The Mayor of Greenwich, the Chairman of Berkeley Homes and the Archdeacon of Lewisham and Greenwich joined nearly 300 local people to enjoy a fun and relaxed evening over supper accompanied by music from the very talented Greenwich Youth Band.

Blackheath Halls generously allowed the event to take place in the atmospheric Great Hall beautifully lit with tables decorated in Kidbrooke Focus’ trademark purple. A raffle of prizes donated by partner organisations raised over £2500 alone.

The Greenwich Youth Band, under the leadership of Chris Lloyd, performed a toe tapping variety of big band music which had a great crowd of people on the dance floor.

Vicky Adeoye, youth worker for Greenwich Youth for Christ, introduced two young people she works with so everyone could understand what sort of difference OneSpace will make to the lives of local young people. When interviewed, Miriam Osei tutu, aged 14, said, “The new OneSpace building is exciting because it helps us youth to stay off the streets. It helps to build a better community and open doors for our girls group project.”
